| Obituary | Mr. Earl Van Blarcom, Sr., age 74, of New Castle, DE, died on Friday, July 25, 2008.
Earl was born in Passaic, NJ on February 9, 1934, a son of the late Frank Van Blarcom and Hilda Knox Van Blarcom. A respected local business leader, he owned and operated Earle's Tire Sales in New Castle, DE for over 40 years and was also the proprietor of JR Truck Company. He never missed a day of work and always set a wonderful example for his employees. Earl was well known for his extensive collection of over 1500 model cars and trucks. He especially enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Rehoboth, where he liked to go boating and fishing. A devoted family man above all else, Earl possessed a true "heart of gold" and will forever be remembered for his generosity, his kindness, and his great love of family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Doris Mae Messick Van Blarcom; 4 children, Gwen Lantagne and husband, Peter, of Fairhill, MD; Elaine Kite and husband, Kevin, of Bear, DE; Kelly Testerman and husband, Gary, of New Castle, DE; and
husband Gary of New Castle DE; and Earle Van Blarcom, Jr. and fiancé, Michele Pollinger, of Bear, DE; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Van Blarcom and wife, Jean; and Vincent Van Blarcom and wife, Barbara; sister, Joan Sassa; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 10 am-12 Noon, on Thursday, July 31, at the Spicer- Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm, at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Flowers will be appreciated or contributions may be made to a favorite charity.The News Journal, July 29, 2008 |
